about

We are going to the sea. The leading songs coalesce in our heads.

Late at night, I might as well do it now anyway, I can't sleep; anxiety phase the wave in. The great rolling mass of sunrise, inevitable as dream - light pokes through. We blink a lot now, you and me, we blink more, shadow more, speak less; there is less need to say or maybe just less to say. Tides roll between us, crushing our parts gently down into component parts. Handfuls of us picked up and shaped before running away. Crackle and hiss, hum and steam, the mist off a teacup behind wet glass.

We get up before the morning and pass ourselves coming back the other way. Make way.

I was in the water, a wobbly outline hardening on the beach. Light bounces and breaks on the waves that rock back and forth, reducing everything to ceaseless in and out. Behind us, our footprints fade. Behind us the mountains claw.

Once we were the sea; now we are the shore.
